On average, more than 100 K-Pop songs get released per month. This makes it incredibly hard for fans to discover new songs and talent. In order to overcome this problem, I designed and developed Hallyu Guide - a K-Pop discovery engine. As of September 2017, the site has attracted more than 15,000 unique visitors, ranging from over 100 countries.
"Love the flat design of the website!"
"Cool project - well done!"
“The website is so neat ... I love the shuffle feature ...”
“Wow, this website is beautiful!”
The objective of Hallyu Guide is to help K-Pop enthusiasts discover new songs and artists in the most efficient way possible. In order to accomplish this, I compiled a massive database that contains more than 5,000 songs, and counting. Each time a user clicks on the “shuffle” button, the website will randomly present a new track to the user. Along with its music video, basic information such as its album name and released date are published as well.
In the event the users come across a song that they really enjoy, they can find other tracks by the same artist in the “Related Tracks” section. Once again, simplifying the discovery process.
The K-Pop fanbase is incredibly huge and welcoming. With this, I wanted the users to participate in the growth of the website too. Using the submission form, K-Pop lovers can submit their favourite tracks to the database, which increase the chance of exposing the hidden gems within the K-Pop industry. In order to avoid duplicate listings, an algorithm is used to verify and alert the users immediately once a submission occurs.
